David A. Gass Featured in Lawyer Monthly Sector Focus – Bioscience

Partner David A. Gass was interviewed for Lawyer Monthly's November edition of “Sector Focus,” in which he discusses intellectual property law challenges specific to the Bioscience industry. Within the interview he addresses hot IP topics, including IP breaches, unique issues in niche sectors, the possibility of legislation pertaining to protection of biotech intellectual property, and inter partes review proceedings.

David A. Gass is a registered patent attorney representing biotechnology companies, universities, and research institutions, and helping to develop and implement IP strategies for commercializing life-improving biotechnology inventions. His practice focuses on acquisition and protection of intellectual property rights, especially patents. He counsels clients about protection of IP rights, maximizing patent term and patent life-cycle for products, and freedom-to-operate issues relative to the IP rights of others. His experience before the USPTO includes interference, reexamination and reissue proceedings, and patent term adjustment challenges. Mr. Gass also assists clients with international patent portfolio management and licensing, and advises counsel in foreign patent prosecution and opposition proceedings. He chaired panels at the 2010-2013 BIO International Conventions on "IP Issues Affecting Biomarker-Based Diagnostics".
