10th Annual Women in Space Science Award Celebration Hosted by the Women’s Board of the Alder Planetarium

Marshall, Gerstein & Borun LLP is proud to support women and their success in science through its sponsorship of the 10th Annual Women in Space Science Award Celebration hosted by the Women’s Board of the Alder Planetarium. The event will be held on Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at the Union League Club in Chicago and includes a reception, luncheon, keynote presentation and student program.

This event is an annual program of the Women’s Board of the Chicago Adler Planetarium to honor women in science and engage middle-school age girls in a science-based program to spark and fuel their interests in science, technology, engineering, and math. Marshall Gerstein associate attorney Jennifer Burnette is a member of the Adler Planetarium’s Women’s Board.

This year’s Women in Space Science Award honoree is Dr. France A. Cordova, world-renowned scientist, educator and President, Purdue University. Dr. Cordova was the first female chief scientist at NASA and is a Senate-confirmed member of the National Science Board. Her scientific research has focused on areas of observational and experimental astrophysics, multi-spectral research on x-ray and gamma ray sources and space-borne instrumentation. She has served on national science committees and has been heavily involved in several non-profit organizations devoted to promoting science.
