Associate Returns to Alma Mater, Discusses Careers in Patent Law

Associate Lance Shaner, Ph.D., speaks to graduate students at the University of Texas Health Science Center – Houston about career paths in patent law on June 12. Dr. Shaner is among 15 speakers in patent law, government and technology transfer, as well as those in other professional industries at the career day event. Dr. Shaner will be sharing his success stories and day-to-day experiences as a patent attorney at Marshall, Gerstein & Borun, a Chicago-based intellectual property law firm.

Dr. Shaner received his J.D. from the University of Houston Law Center, where he was the Publications Editor for the Houston Journal of International Law. He was also a judicial intern for Justice Sam Nuchia, the Texas Court of Appeals, First Judicial District. Prior to law school, Dr. Shaner earned his Ph.D. in microbiology and molecular genetics from the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston.
