Kriegel to Speak to ALA IP Conference Attendees on Second Anniversary of the America Invents Act

September 19, 2013

National Harbor, MD

Marking the second anniversary of the America Invents Act (AIA), partner Jeremy R. Kriegel will discuss the AIA’s impact on U.S. patent practice in a presentation during the 2013 Association of Legal Administrators (ALA) Intellectual Property Conference for Legal Professionals. The conference will be held September 19–20, 2013 at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center in National Harbor, Maryland.

New patent laws and procedures created by the AIA, and fundamental changes to pre-existing laws and procedures, affect users of the patent system in various ways. Mr. Kriegel, along with Deborah Sterling, director at Sterne, Kessler, Goldstein & Fox, will discuss what has worked, what hasn't, and what additional changes might be expected. Their presentation will touch on whether claims should be examined under pre-AIA or post-AIA laws (and the consequences of those decisions), as well as tactics and best practices for reexamination, inter partes review or post-grant review.
