Marshall, Gerstein & Borun LLP Sponsors A Science Professionals Day For Chicago Area Schoolgirls

January 28, 2012

Marshall, Gerstein & Borun LLP will sponsor a "Science Professionals" day, co-hosted by WIB-Chicago and Girls 4 Science (G4S) on January 28, 2012 in Chicago. G4S promotes science education to girls ages 10-18 in the greater Chicago area. Women In Bio (WIB) is an organization of professionals committed to fostering and encouraging entrepreneurship and career development of women active in the life science industry.

Several women with scientific backgrounds will discuss their career paths and how science education allowed them to achieve their goals. The panel of speakers will include Frances Clemo, Veterinary Pathologist at Baxter Healthcare; Gray Hulick, Director of Global Alliance Management at Takeda Pharmaceuticals; Sujatha Karoor, Associate Director at Baxter Healthcare; Lily Rin-Laures, M.D., Partner at Marshall, Gerstein & Borun LLP; Sheila Talbott, Senior Medical Director at Takeda Pharmaceuticals; and Jane Wang, President, B&H Biotechnologies, LLC. Sharon Sintich, Ph.D., partner at Marshall, Gerstein & Borun LLP and Amy Wilson, Patent Counsel at Baxter Healthcare Corporation, helped to organize this event.

"After graduating from high school, many young women are prepared to pursue science and engineering majors in college; however fewer women pursue these majors compared to men. We hope that introducing young women to positive role models, who have achieved successful science-related careers, will help encourage more young women to explore careers in science, technology and engineering," says Dr. Sintich.
