“IP Considerations for Blockchain Technology”
Tuesday, September 26, 2017
12:15 – 1:30pm CT
The Chicago Bar Association

Blockchain technology can be defined as a distributed ledger network using public-key cryptography to cryptographically sign transactions that are stored on a distributed ledger, with the ledger consisting of cryptographically linked blocks of transactions. The cryptographically linked blocks of transactions form what is known as “a blockchain.” As of March 2017, at least 880 patent applications had been filed with the United States Patent and Trademark Office that contain the words bitcoin, blockchain, or distributed ledger. With the steady increase of patent applications each year, Mr. Rosario will discuss the importance for IP attorneys to develop an understanding of the blockchain technology and the intellectual property rights and issues relating to that technology.
Mr. Rosario will be joined by Justin D. DeAngelis, Associate, Quarles & Brady LLP.
This session is approved for CLE credit by the State of Illinois.
