Pamela L. Cox will participate in a mock mediation entitled, “Time and Cost-Effective Approaches to Resolving Technology Transfer Disputes” on Thursday, March 27, 2014, during the Licensing Executives Society (LES) 2014 Mid-Year Meeting in New York City.

In this popular interactive workshop, Ms. Cox will play the role of external counsel for a university director of licensing, played by John Ritter of Princeton University. The mock mediation, based on a real case from the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) Arbitration and Mediation Center, aims to resolve a license dispute with an industry licensee, played by Robin Rasor of the University of Michigan. Ms. Rasor will be represented by external counsel, played by Charles Valauskas of Valauskas Corder LLC. Adam Rattray of the WIPO Arbitration and Mediation Center will introduce the case study and participants, and Russell Levine of Kirkland and Ellis will facilitate the mediation.

As partner and chair of IP Transactions at Marshall, Gerstein & Borun, Ms. Cox concentrates on counseling related to intellectual property transactions, protection and transfer for clients ranging from multinational corporations to non-profit institutions. According to the IAM Patent 1000, "Ms. Cox is one of the foremost licensing experts both in the Midwest and nationally. She is a pre-eminent authority on university technology transfer and licensing acting for commercial and non-profit clients." Ms. Cox is chair of the Life Sciences Committee for LESI, an International Delegate for LES USA/Canada and former Chicago Chapter chair for LES.
