Marshall Gerstein & Borun Attorneys Volunteer for IP Mentorship Program

February 24, 2010

CHICAGO (February 24, 2010) – Attorneys from Marshall, Gerstein & Borun LLP have signed on to be mentors in a new mentorship program for second-year law students through the Chicago Intellectual Property Alliance (CIPA), a nonprofit organization committed to promoting intellectual property in Chicago. The program is designed to provide guidance and advice for Chicago’s next generation of intellectual property attorneys and matches interested and motivated law students with practicing IP lawyers. CIPA launched the program at an inaugural luncheon on January 28 at the Loyola University School of Law where mentors and mentees met and mingled with other program participants.

Marshall Gerstein is a founding member of CIPA and has been involved with the organization since its inception. Partner Paul Stephens sits on the board, and Meggan Duffy, special counsel and director of professional development, is the chair of CIPA’s Law Schools Committee. Four attorneys from Marshall, Gerstein & Borun are involved in the program: Jeremy Kriegel, Drew Lawrence, Jenn Burnette, and Duffy. The mentorship program includes 30 students from the Loyola, Chicago-Kent, John Marshall and DePaul law schools, with a total of 29 mentors volunteering from local law firms and corporations.

“This program is an excellent opportunity for mentors to pass along their own successes and experiences and feel good about helping others,” said Duffy. “We’ve assembled a host of attorneys from Marshall, Gerstein & Borun as well as other IP law firms to share valuable insights with the law students as they look to begin their careers after graduation.”
