Bicknell Earns Certified Licensing Professional Designation

June 1, 2009

Gina M. Bicknell, associate of Marshall, Gerstein & Borun, has earned the Certified Licensing Professional™ (CLP)* credential.  Ms. Bicknell joins a growing group of intellectual property professionals that have demonstrated their dedication to higher standards of practice in the licensing industry.

The CLP™ designation distinguishes licensing professionals who have demonstrated their experience and proficiency in licensing and the commercialization of intellectual property.  It is built on internationally applicable standards of practice, knowledge and ethics to differentiate licensing professionals who have taken the steps necessary to become certified.

After extensive industry research, the CLP™ certification was created as an initiative of the Licensing Executives Society (LES) (USA and Canada), Inc. to recognize licensing professionals who are committed to professional development and the attainment of the skills and knowledge necessary to perform their jobs at the highest level of quality.  LES has established itself as the leader in the licensing field and is steadfastly dedicated to the professional development of its constituents (members and otherwise).

Ms. Bicknell concentrates on intellectual property transactions for universities, small start-ups, and large corporations. She has more than a decade of intellectual property transactional experience which she leverages to help clients maximize the potential of their intellectual property assets. Ms. Bicknell received her J.D., with honors, from Chicago-Kent College of Law in 2008. She received her B.Sc. in Biological Sciences, with honors, from Birkbeck College, University of London in 2001 and her B.A. in English Language and Literature, with honors, from the University of Chicago in 1997. Ms. Bicknell is a member of the Technology and Education Committee for the Chicago IP Alliance (CIPA), and is also a member of the Licensing Executives Society (LES), the Association of University Technology Managers (AUTM), the American Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPLA), the Illinois State Bar Association (ISBA), and the Chicago Bar Association (CBA).
