Pam Cox Elected as 2007 LES Chair

Marshall, Gerstein & Borun is pleased to announce that Partner Pamela L. Cox is serving as 2007 Chair of the Licensing Executives Society (LES), Chicago Chapter.

 “We are pleased to see Pam lead the local arm of the Licensing Executives Society,” said Jeff Sharp, managing partner of Marshall, Gerstein & Borun.  “The technical experience, industry knowledge and enthusiasm that make Pam such a valuable asset to the firm and her clients will undoubtedly make her a strong leader for the society, as well.”

Following on the Chapter leadership efforts of Mark Dietzen and Michael Bredhal and responding to a recent survey of LES members, in 2007, the Chapter is focused on bringing its members speakers and topics that cover a wide range of pressing issues in valuation, negotiation, deal optimization and the law. 

“I am excited about the top-notch speakers we have lined up to provide insight and creative solutions to issues facing the experienced licensing executive,” Cox said.

Cox handles licensing and other IP-related transactions for a range of clients from start-up organizations to non-profit institutions to multi-national corporations.  She also focuses on biotechnology patent opinion work and counseling.  Cox is a frequent speaker and active participant in several professional organizations, such as the Intellectual Property Owners Association, Association of University Technology Managers and BIO. 

Cox received her J.D. from the University of Notre Dame School of Law and her B.S. in biology from Indiana University.  She is registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.

Established in 1965, the Licensing Executives Society (U.S.A. and Canada), Inc. (LES) is a professional society comprised of more than 6,000 members engaged in the transfer, use, development, manufacture and marketing of intellectual property.  The LES membership encompasses a range of professionals, including business executives, lawyers, licensing consultants, engineers, academicians, scientists and government officials.  Many large corporations, professional firms and universities are also involved.
