Li-Hsien (Lily) Rin-Laures, M.D. Elected to Marshall, Gerstein & Borun’s Executive Committee

Partner Li-Hsien (Lily) Rin-Laures, M.D. has been elected to Marshall, Gerstein & Borun’s Executive Committee, joining fellow Partner Robert M. Gerstein and Managing Partner Jeffrey S. Sharp.

The election of Dr. Rin-Laures, the first woman partner to hold a position on the Executive Committee, is another milestone in the firm’s commitment to the inclusion of women and minorities in leadership positions. Women and minority partners have led the firm’s practice groups, including the litigation and transactional groups, and key committees overseeing marketing and recruiting. For the past 12 years, the Firm’s Recruiting Committee has been led by a minority or woman partner.

With over two decades of experience focused in biotechnology and pharmaceutical intellectual property law, Dr. Rin-Laures is a leading partner in "one of the best biotechnology practices in the country" as ranked by Chambers USA. Her unique insider’s perspective as a former General Counsel of a biotechnology company, technical expertise, and wide-ranging industry knowledge acquired from managing global patent portfolios for numerous FDA-approved drugs enables her to be a valuable strategic partner to clients.

Dr. Rin-Laures is committed to implementing Marshall’s strategic plan, capitalizing on the Firm’s focus and depth in intellectual property law, and its representation of clients with local and global business interests. Dr. Rin-Laures is also personally committed to diversity and the advancement of women in her profession, as well as in the life science industry. She is a founding member of the Firm’s Committee on Diversity & Inclusion and was recognized as a 2012 Leading Law Firm Rainmaker in MCCA's Diversity & The Bar. Dr. Rin-Laures co-founded and was the first president of the Chicago Chapter of Women In Bio (WIB), a nationally recognized non-profit organization committed to bringing women in the life science industry together. She is also a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation, has been active on the committee for the Coalition of Women’s Initiatives in Law Firmsand is a mentor for Menttium, a mentoring organization that supports leadership development and diversity.
