Marshall, Gerstein & Borun Welcomes Two New Partners

Marshall, Gerstein & Borun LLP is pleased to announce that Marsha K. Hoover and Jeremy D. Protas have been elected to the partnership, bringing the Firm’s total partners to 44.

Marsha K. Hoover has extensive experience handling trademark and copyright issues across a broad array of industries. She is an active participant in her clients’ IP strategy, helping them register, protect and license their marks and creative works and avoid and overcome conflicts with the existing intellectual property rights of others in all types media. Ms. Hoover is included in the 2011 inaugural edition of the Martindale-Hubbell® Bar Register of Preeminent Women Lawyers™ as being among the women attorneys who have received the highest possible rating in both legal ability and ethical standards from their peers. In 2013, she was selected as a "Top Rated Lawyer in Intellectual Property" by American Lawyer Media (ALM) and Martindale-Hubbell. Ms. Hoover was also recognized by the World Trademark Review (WTR) in its 2013 WTR 1000 rankings.

Jeremy D. Protas counsels clients on patent-related matters, focusing on securing patents in diverse technologies including process control, wireless communication, business methods, medical devices, and bioinformatics. While focusing on patent preparation and prosecution, his practice also includes providing patentability and freedom-to-operate opinions, and general intellectual property counseling. Additionally, Mr. Protas serves on Marshall, Gerstein & Borun’s Diversity and Inclusion Committee and the Firm’s Pro Bono committee. He also participates in the Firm’s marketing and community outreach efforts, particularly in the LGBT community. Mr. Protas joined the Board of the Directors for the National LGBT Bar Association in 2010 and, in 2014, will serve as the Board's president-elect. Mr. Protas received recognition as one of the Minority Corporate Counsel Association’s (MCCA) "2013 Rising Stars," and in 2012 he was named one of the "Best LGBT Lawyers Under 40" by the National LGBT Bar Association.
