Heather Kissling and Katherine Neville, Ph.D., Selected Among 2016 Women Worth Watching

Ms. Kissling draws from over fifteen years of experience securing biotechnology patents to develop worldwide filing and prosecution strategies that further her clients’ business objectives. Clients find her to be a forward-thinking advocate that shares their commitment to realizing the maximum value from their intellectual property assets. Ms. Kissling is chair of the Firm’s Biotechnology & Life Sciences practice group; serves on the Firm’s Professional Development and Orientation Committee; and formally mentors two female associates. She was selected to the 2014 and 2016 editions of Managing IP’s IP Stars list of the Top 250 Women in IP.

As a leader outside the Firm, Ms. Kissling is actively involved in the biotechnology industry and committed to advancing women in the profession. She has served on the Biotechnology Industry Organization’s International Convention Programming Committee and on the Advisory Board of the Chicago chapter of Women In Bio, an organization of professionals committed to promoting careers, leadership, and entrepreneurship for women in life sciences.

For more than a decade, Dr. Neville, a partner in the firm’s biotechnology practice group, has called on her experience to counsel clients in strategic management of worldwide patent rights, relying on her background prosecuting domestic and foreign patents, providing due diligence analyses, handling interference, reexamination, and opposition proceedings, as well as giving non-infringement, patentability, freedom to operate, and validity opinions. She also devotes her time to organizations helping to advance women in the legal and life sciences professions. In recognition of her outstanding patent work in life sciences, Dr. Neville has been featured as a “Life Sciences Star” in the 2015 edition of LMG Life Sciences.

A leader inside and outside the Firm, Dr. Neville is a member of the Firm’s Recruiting Committee and Marketing & Business Development Committee; and is a mentor for Firm associates. Dr. Neville is also a current Advisory Board member and past president of the Chicago chapter of Women in Bio.
