Over the last ten years, Kevin Flowers has been successfully representing clients such as Amgen, Serono, Eli Lilly, Novartis, Danisco and Home Depot as first-chair trial counsel in patent infringement cases involving products with sales in the hundreds of millions to billions of dollars per year. These include Amgen v. Hoechst Marion Roussel and TKT and Amgen Inc. v. F. Hoffmann La Roche (both involving patents directed to recombinant erythropoietin products and processes); Default Proof Credit Card System v. Home Depot and RealSource Communications v. Home Depot (both involving retail gift card systems); Vanderbilt  Univ.  v. ICOS Corp. (patents covering Cialis®); Cell Genesys Inc. v. Applied Research Systems and Applied Research Systems v.  TKT (patents covering methods of endogenous gene activation); Danisco v. Novozymes (recombinant food processing enzymes); Schering v. Geneva Pharmaceuticals (generic versions of Claritin®); Abbott GmbH v. Yeda Research and Development (patents directed to recombinant TNF-binding proteins); Hyseq v. Affymetrix and Affymetrix v. Hyseq (“gene chips”); and Applera Corp. – Applied Biosystems, Inc. v. Illumina, Inc. (patents covering ligation-based DNA sequencing methods). Dr. Flowers has also successfully represented clients such as Monsanto in high-stakes interference proceedings in the Patent Office, and has served as first-chair trial counsel in trademark infringement cases in the District Courts.

Dr. Flowers received his law degree from The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law, where he was a Managing Editor and contributing author for the Ohio State Journal on Dispute Resolution. While in law school, he worked full-time as a law clerk in a high-profile criminal defense practice.  He received his undergraduate degree in Biology and a Master’s degree in Health Education (Exercise Physiology) from The Ohio State University, and earned his Ph.D. from the Cellular and Molecular Physiology program at the Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine and Graduate School. Dr. Flowers' scientific research led to eleven peer-reviewed scientific publications. He is a member of the Trial Bar for the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, a member of the bar of the Federal Circuit Court of Appeals, and is registered to practice in the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
