Thomas K. Stine has substantial experience in all aspects of intellectual property law, with a primary practice emphasis on foreign and domestic patent prosecution of the electronic and electro-mechanical arts and patent litigation. Mr. Stine's practice covers a variety of industries, including:
- Electric motors and well-pump motors
- Fuel dispensing and containment monitoring systems utilized in underground storage tanks
- Beverage bottle and can manufacturing
- Hearing aid components
- Radar signal detection
Prior to the practice of law, Mr. Stine worked as a sales engineer within the control systems industry. In addition, he worked as a senior production engineer and as a facilities engineer in the construction, implementation, and startup of printing press lines within the newspaper industry.
Mr. Stine obtained a certification of completion in negotiation from the DePaul University College of Law Center for Dispute Resolution. He has successfully negotiated and resolved disputes that have resulted in outcomes that satisfied various interests, thus avoiding costly and risky litigation. He is a member of the American Bar Association, the Chicago Bar Association, the Intellectual Property Law Association of Chicago and the Licensing Executives Society. Mr. Stine was awarded an AVĀ® Peer Review Rating by LexisNexis Martindale-Hubbell, and was recommended by his peers as a Leading Lawyer in Illinois.
Previously an adjunct professor of law at DePaul University College of Law in Chicago, Mr. Stine is also a member of DePaul's Intellectual Property Advisory Board, The Center for Intellectual Property Law and Information Technology.
Mr. Stine received his J.D. from DePaul University College of Law in 1984 and received his B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University in 1978.
