He also has extensive experience in negotiating and drafting licensing agreements, performing due-diligence for transactions involving intellectual property assets, and delivering opinions on patent infringement and validity issues.  He also counsels clients on intellectual property procurement and enforcement strategies and other intellectual property issues.  He has taught patent claim drafting for a nationally recognized review course for the patent bar examination.

Mr. Gettleson earned his J.D. from the University of Illinois College of Law in 1992.  His technical proficiency comes from his long experience in patent law as well as his formal education.  He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Engineering, magna cum laude, from the University of Michigan in 1989.  There, he was a member of the Tau Beta Pi engineering honor society and the Eta Kappa Nu electrical and computer engineering honor society.  In 2000, he completed an intensive certificate program in Microsoft Windows Software Development at the Institute for Professional Development of the DePaul University School of Computer Science.
