Marshall, Gerstein & Borun LLP Announces New Associates, Special Counsel and Technical Specialist
The Chicago-based intellectual property law firm of Marshall, Gerstein & Borun LLP is pleased to welcome three new attorneys and one technical specialist who will be active in the Firm’s patent prosecution area.
Associate James E. Shultz Jr., a graduate of Ohio University with a bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering and a master of science in electrical and computer engineering, is also a graduate of Capital University Law School in Columbus, Ohio. Mr. Shultz is responsible for drafting and prosecuting patent, copyright and trademark applications. Previously, he was an in-house attorney at Gentex Corp.
Associate Joseph M. Kinsella Jr. is a graduate of the Illinois Institute of Technology with a bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering. He is a graduate of Clemson University with a master of science in electrical engineering and a graduate of Chicago-Kent College of Law. Mr. Kinsella prosecutes international and domestic patents for clients in the electrical, software, mechanical and electromechanical engineering fields.
Associate Andrew W. Bateman received his bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana and a master of science in electrical engineering from the National Technological University in Fort Collins, Colorado. He is a graduate of the Chicago-Kent College of Law. Mr. Bateman prosecutes patent applications in electrical engineering and other arenas.
Jacqueline J. DeFoe, Ph.D. is a graduate of Marquette University with a bachelor of science degree in chemistry. She graduated from The University of Chicago with both a master of science degree in chemistry and a Ph.D. in chemistry, where her research involved the development of catalysts for making new types of plastics. Dr. DeFoe has joined the Firm as a technical specialist to assist in prosecuting patents for clients within the chemical sciences industry.
