Biography
Nicholas K. Terrell assists clients in obtaining and protecting intellectual property rights through development and evaluation of patent portfolios, with a particular focus on electronic systems and software. Recent work has included patents related to remote sensing and imaging, vehicle control and autonomous operation, medical devices and diagnostic processes, process control systems, software tools for business and electronic communication, and data management. Nick has worked with large-cap corporations, universities, and start-up companies to obtain patents covering systems, components, circuits, processes, and user interfaces. He has also worked with large and small entities to evaluate their portfolios and assess patentability of their innovations.
Nick has been practicing law since 2010, including a clerkship for the Hon. Robert H. Cleland, U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan, where he worked on a variety of cases involving patents, copyrights, and trademarks. He has previously worked as a corporate attorney, an economist, and a web developer. This breadth of experience enables him to guide clients in identifying and protecting forward-looking aspects of their inventions.
