Marshall Gerstein Elects Three New Partners

Marshall, Gerstein & Borun LLP today announced the election of Michael J. Allikian Ph.D., Jonathan C. Hughley, and Cameron B. Pick to partnership, effective January 1.

Michael J. Allikian, Ph.D., Partner     

Dr. Allikian prosecutes patent applications for a range of molecular biology technologies, including nanobiotechnology, genomics and therapeutics. His studies have included research on aging and musculoskeletal disease, and he has published numerous peer-reviewed articles and reviews focused on sarcoglycan complex in skeletal and cardiac muscle. He earned his J.D. from DePaul University and his Ph.D. in molecular biology from University of Southern California, where taught upper level undergraduate studies. He earned his M.S. and B.S. degrees in biology from Illinois State University, and he was an undergraduate biology lecturer at the University of Chicago. Dr. Allikian is admitted to practice in Illinois and the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.

Jonathan C. Hughley, Partner Mr. Hughley prepares and prosecutes domestic and foreign patent applications involving mechanical, electro-mechanical, and software technologies. His former experience and technical background provide substantial knowledge of varying technological areas. He prepares and prosecutes domestic and foreign utility and design applications and prepares patentability and infringement opinions for global companies that are leaders in medical devices, oil and gas systems, automotive components, manufacturing systems and machinery, imaging systems, heavy duty machinery, industrial control systems, food processing, packaging, transportation, retail, and consumer products, to name a few. Additionally, he serves on the firm’s Diversity & Inclusion Committee, the Recruiting Committee, and was a previous elected member of the firm’s Associates Committee. Mr. Hughley earned his J.D., cum laude, from the University of Illinois College of Law, and his B.S. degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He is admitted to practice in Illinois and the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
 
Cameron B. Pick Portrait (Smaller size) Mr. Pick prosecutes domestic and foreign patents for technologies across a range of industries with particular emphasis in electrical and software engineering. Such industries include lidar sensors, blockchain technology, biomedical imaging, machine learning, artificial intelligence, quantum information technology, epigenomics, process control, geographic information systems, and cellular network technology. He also prepares patentability and infringement opinions for Fortune 100 companies. He earned his J.D. from Duke University School of Law and his B.S. degree in electrical engineering, with honors, from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Prior to joining the firm, he was a patent extern at the United States Patent and Trademark Office. Mr. Pick is admitted to practice in Illinois and the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
