He seeks a deeper understanding of his clients’ businesses, while providing them with timely information on the ever-changing legal landscape.
Recent Client Work
- Throughout his career, Mr. Craane has been involved in the prosecution and litigation of medical device patents. From simple surgical instruments to complex lasers and intricate “laboratory-on-a-chip” DNA/RNA technology, he has counseled companies both large and small. Most recently, his work in this area has focused on the drug delivery and fluid administration devices of industry-leading companies, advising on and executing prosecution strategies to support new and existing product lines.
- The patents that Mr. Craane is able to obtain for his green technology clients in the alternative energy and wastewater treatment industries enable them to seek out new investment partners, while protecting them from the encroachment of late-comers. Sometimes, these patents are the result of years of persistent prosecution. In other situations, a license agreement with the right party might open the road to tomorrow. Much of Mr. Craane's recent educational outreach has focused on helping green technology companies understand their intellectual property options.
- The United States has long been recognized as a global leader in manufacturing technology, and Mr. Craane's clients specializing in conveyor equipment and machining processes are at the forefront. As more and more manufacturing has moved overseas, he has been right there with his clients, coordinating U.S. and foreign prosecution, litigation and counseling. Experienced in the intellectual property laws of developing economies like Brazil and of developed economies such as Europe, he keeps abreast of how to use these systems in concert in the most cost effective manner possible for the client.
