Patent attorney Adil Kolovic helps some of the most well-known companies in the world protect their valuable cutting-edge technology. With a master’s degree in engineering sciences and applied mathematics, Adil counsels companies from a broad range of sectors regarding some of the latest innovations. From securing patents in software such as blockchain, GUIs, and apps, hardware such as components for quantum computers, and mechanical inventions such as punches and dies for metal fabrication, Adil is a versatile attorney who counsels inventors with diverse intellectual property legal needs.
Adil entered the field of patent law because he has a strong interest in cutting-edge technology. He helps his clients navigate their legal needs, providing counsel in areas such as software, computer systems, and data processing, as well as electrical engineering, graphical user-interfaces, phone applications, sensors, and blockchain. Before becoming a patent attorney, Adil worked in the financial services sector as a commodity trader and analyst.
For Adil, one of the best parts of the job is being able to work with some of the largest and most influential companies in the globe. He enjoys being involved with the thought process that goes into his clients’ latest innovations and seeing how these products develop from an internal concept to something that is used by consumers around the world.
When he is not working, Adil enjoys spending time with his children. A former collegiate wrestler at Northwestern University, Adil coaches youth wrestling, as well as soccer.
Background and Credentials
Prior to joining Marshall, Gerstein & Borun LLP, Adil worked as a financial services professional, trading a diverse portfolio of commodities including equities, interest rates, agricultural, and energy products. He utilized his proficiencies in risk management, quantitative analysis, mathematics, statistics, and programming to help optimize proprietary trading strategies and manage long-term options positions worth millions of dollars.
Adil earned his J.D. from Chicago-Kent College of Law, where he was on the Dean's List his first two semesters of law school. Adil holds a Master’s of Science degree in engineering sciences and applied mathematics from Northwestern University and a B.S., dual major, in mathematics and physics from Elmhurst College. During graduate school, he was a starter for the Northwestern University wrestling team, which finished 13th in the country.
