2010 Women in Space Science Award Celebration

April 19, 2010

Marshall, Gerstein & Borun LLP is proud to support women and their successes in science and engineering through its sponsorship of the 2010 Women in Space Science Award Celebration at the Adler Planetarium in Chicago. The event will be held at the Adler Planetarium on May 19, 2010.

Held as an annual program of the Women’s Board of the Adler Planetarium, the 2010 Women in Space Science Award Celebration is chaired by Jennifer Burnette a member of the Women’s Board and an associate at Marshall, Gerstein & Borun.

The program includes a day program in which 7th, 8th, and 9th grade aged girls (about 200 from Chicago public, private, and parochial schools) are invited to the Adler Planetarium to participate in science-based learning activities designed to spark their interest in science and engineering. The day program is followed by an evening dinner, which features a keynote address by this year’s honoree Dr. C. Megan Urry, and later presenting her with the 2010 Women in Space Science Award.

Dr. Urry's scientific research focuses on active galaxies, with accreting supermassive black holes in their centers. Dr. C. Megan Urry is the Israel Munson Professor of Physics and Astronomy at Yale University, Director of the Yale Center for Astronomy and Astrophysics, and Chair of the Physics Department at Yale.
