Cox to Launch WILA and Serve as Counsel in Mock Mediation of IP License Dispute at 2019 LESI Annual Conference

Pamela L. Cox, Chair of Marshall, Gerstein & Borun LLP’s IP Transactions Practice Group, is pleased to announce the live launch of the Women in Licensing Alliance (WILA). WILA, was founded by Ms. Cox and Sonja London, Head of Licensing Operations & Head of Consumer Electronics Licensing Program at Nokia Technologies. WILA is an organization dedicated to advancing the growth of women in leadership through education, mentoring and networking opportunities and part of the Licensing Executives Society International (LESI), in which Ms. Cox is a Vice President and Ms. London is President of Licensing Executives Society Scandinavia and Chair of the High Technology Committee of LESI.

Additionally, Ms. Cox and fellow LESI Board members will conduct the annual LES International Management & Delegates’ Meeting from Friday, May 24 – Sunday, May 26 during the 2019 LESI Annual Conference.

Ms. Cox will also join Adam Rattray, Head, Information and External Relations, World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO); John Ritter, Director, Office of Technology Licensing, Princeton University; Linda Kawano, Vice President of New Business Development, Cantu Designs; Katsumori Iseki, Head, CP Japan IP Attorneys; James R. Sobieraj, Shareholder, Brinks Gilson & Lione; and Charles C. Valauskas, Legal Counsel, Valauskas Corder LLC, to conduct a mock mediation under WIPO Mediation Rules. Those rules are particularly advantageous in intellectual property related contractual disputes involving parties from different jurisdictions. In addition to the mock mediation between a university and a business, the panel will present the essential features of mediation, ADR pros and cons compared with court litigation and what to expect if you engage in a mediation. Pamela L. Cox concentrates on counseling related to intellectual property transactions, protection and transfer for clients ranging from multinational corporations to non-profit institutions. As a patent attorney who has managed intellectual property portfolios in-house, Ms. Cox understands her clients’ intellectual property and agreement needs, and remains passionately engaged until their strategic objectives are achieved. In addition to serving as a Board Member of Governors for the Certified Licensing Professionals (CLP) and the University Club of Chicago, Ms. Cox is active in supporting the profession, including as an Adjunct Professor at Northwestern University Pritzker Law School.
