Cox and Read to Instruct at the AUTM Business Development Course on Medical Devices

Pamela L. Cox and David C. Read will teach at the first Business Development Course sponsored by the Association of University Technology Managers (AUTM). The Course will be held on November 12–13, 2014 at the Chicago Marriott O'Hare, and will focus on the medical device industry.

Ms. Cox, along with the other members of AUTM's Business Development Curriculum Committee, have selected faculty with a deep understanding of their topics. The course will provide participants with detailed insights into the medical device market, regulatory process and the issues technology transfer professionals encounter when licensing to the medical device industry. It is the first in a series of AUTM business development courses funded by the Walter H. Coulter Foundation designed to provide in-depth education on specific industry sectors.

Pamela Cox, chair of Marshall, Gerstein & Borun LLP's IP Transactions practice, concentrates on counseling related to intellectual property transactions, protection and transfer for clients ranging from multinational corporations to non-profit institutions. She is "highly recommended" for licensing, and for several years has been honored as one of "The World’s Leading IP Patent and Technology Licensing Lawyers" by Intellectual Asset Management. Ms. Cox is active in the professional community, serves on the Board of Governors of CLP, and holds several leadership positions within AUTM, LES and LESI.

Mr. Read, chair of the prosecution practice at Marshall, Gerstein & Borun, focuses his practice on developing and implementing domestic and international patent protection strategies for clients worldwide. He has gained valuable patent rights for manufacturing clients including patent protection covering control valves, regulators, process control equipment, construction machinery, consumer products, medical devices and a wide variety of industrial equipment.
