Marshall, Gerstein & Borun Partners to Speak on Implications of AIA at ALA IP Retreat
Marshall, Gerstein & Borun LLP partners Jeremy R. Kriegel and Sandip H. Patel will deliver the keynote presentation at the 2012 Association of Legal Administrators (ALA) Intellectual Property Retreat, which will be held September 20 and 21, 2012 at the Avenue Crowne Plaza in Chicago.
One of the most significant bills enacted by Congress last year, the Leahy-Smith America Invents Act (AIA) changes the U.S. patent system from a first-to-invent system to a modified first-to-file system, effective March 16, 2013. During their presentation, Mr. Kriegel and Mr. Patel will explain what has happened in IP practice since the Act’s signing, analyze the impact of the Act on law firm budgets, cash flows and revenues and summarize ways to manage client expectations in light of these financial implications.
The ALA Intellectual Property Retreat provides a forum for IP administrators to learn and share ideas with the people at the forefront of IP. To learn more, visit the ALA’s website.
