“Preserving Patent Term Adjustment – There’s No Time to Waste!”

September 27, 2019Presentation
Association of Legal Administrators Intellectual Property Conference

Partner Jeremy Kriegel presented on the patent term adjustment (PTA) at the Association of Legal Administrators 2019 Intellectual Property Conference for Legal Management Professionals. Jeremy highlighted recent court decisions and USPTO regulations on how the PTA is calculated, what delays can lead to loss of an additional patent term, and suggest practices at all level of a patent prosecution practice that could maximize available PTA.

The PTA is provided to compensate patent owners for USPTO delays during prosecution of patent applications by adding to the term of the affected patent. However, PTA can be lost due to delays attributed to the applicant. Jeremy will share his insights on PTA’s at the only IP-focused forum for administrators working in a legal practice setting.
