“Marshall Gerstein Got Creative to Stay Connected, Managing Partner Says” (featured quotes)
April 8, 2021On April 8, 2021 Managing Partner Jeffrey Sharp was quoted in The Mid-Market Report in a Q&A discussing the state of the firm, its biggest opportunities, trends in the legal market, recruiting and more.
“The nature of what we do has changed, in a good way, during my career. Lawyers used to do a lot of things, such as document production, that can be automated or done by well-trained nonlawyers and alternative service providers have also taken on this work. This is good for our clients and firm alike because it leaves us with only the more complex and professionally interesting work to do on behalf of our clients,” Sharp said regarding the firm’s approach to how it operates.
When discussing how the firm adjusted as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, Sharp noted, “We made sure to check in on our clients on both a professional and personal level. Isolation took its toll on a lot of people in those early months of the lockdown, so those connections were crucial. Finding opportunities to connect in-person when it was possible and safe to do so took some creativity, and our people went the extra mile. For one of our partners, it was picking up sandwiches and meeting with a client outside, in his backyard, for a lunch meeting—and that was just one example among many. I’m really proud of the way our people stepped up to take care of our clients and each other during these unprecedented times.”
