Meggan Duffy Selected to Join State Farm’s Rising Star Academy

October 1, 2020

Marshall, Gerstein & Borun LLP congratulates Partner Meggan Duffy on her acceptance to State Farm’s Rising Star Academy, an exclusive program recognizing select outside counsel for their leadership and business acumen. As a member of this year’s cohort, Meggan will engage in professional development and networking events hosted virtually and, when it becomes safe to do so, in-person at State Farm’s Corporate Headquarters in Bloomington, Ill. She will also further understand State Farm’s business and culture, which prioritizes diversity and inclusion as central to its mission – to help people manage the risks of everyday life, recover from the unexpected and realize their dreams.

State Farm’s Rising Star Academy was established in tandem with the company’s support of American Bar Association’s (ABA) Resolution 113. More than two dozen corporate counsel from Fortune 1000 companies, including State Farm, signed onto the resolution to increase diversity within the legal industry. Through its Rising Star Academy, State Farm is actively connecting with diverse counsel to expand business relationships and support diverse attorneys. The company also aims to empower rising leaders like Meggan to build on existing diversity and inclusion efforts within their own law firms.

As a partner and registered patent attorney at Marshall Gerstein, Meggan secures domestic and foreign patent rights for a variety of clients in the insurance services, e-commerce, consumer products, medical devices, mechanical, and electromechanical sectors. She also provides opinions, counseling, and portfolio management advice for clients, helping them succeed by advancing and protecting their technologies through skillful patent preparation and prosecution. Meggan is an active member of Marshall Gerstein’s Diversity and Inclusion Committee, chair of Marshall Gerstein’s 3D Printing Taskforce, co-founder of the Chicago IP Alliance (CIPA) Mentorship Program, and Board Director of the Illinois IP Alliance (ILIPA).
