Jeremy D. Protas Named Among the Best LGBT Lawyers Under 40
Associate Jeremy Protas has been named one of the Best LGBT Lawyers Under 40 of 2012. The award, given by the National LGBT Bar Association, recognizes LGBT legal professionals under the age of 40 who have distinguished themselves in their field and demonstrated a profound commitment to LGBT equality. Jeremy and the other award recipients will be recognized at the Lavender Law Conference and Career Fair held in Washington, D.C. this August.
At Marshall, Gerstein & Borun LLP, Jeremy Protas prosecutes and secures patents in diverse technologies including process control, wireless communication, software development and retail systems. He founded Marshall Gerstein’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee and was instrumental in developing the committee’s mission statement and its strategic plan for the firm. He is a recognized leader in community outreach efforts, particularly within the LGBT community. He was appointed to the Board of Directors for the National LGBT Bar Association in 2010 and serves on the Association’s membership committee and as co-chair of the Affiliate Congress. To raise awareness of patent law among lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender law students and to increase the number of LGBT lawyers in the patent law community, he founded and funds the Jeremy D. Protas LGBT Patent Law Scholarship.
