Julianne Hartzell Appointed to Board of Directors for the Coalition of Women’s Initiatives in Law Firms

Marshall, Gerstein & Borun LLP, an intellectual property law firm, announces that Julianne Hartzell has been appointed to the Board of Directors for the Coalition of Women’s Initiatives in Law Firms, a non-profit association whose mission is to find and share efficient and effective methods to enhance the retention and promotion of women lawyers and provide support for women's initiatives in law firms.

“I am very excited about serving on the Board of the Coalition of Women’s Initiatives in Law Firms. I believe that the Coalition provides an important forum for communicating ideas and learning from the shared experiences of others to bring about change in the legal community. I am looking forward to the impact the Coalition will have and my role in achieving its goals,” said Hartzell.

Hartzell’s practice comprises all aspects of intellectual property litigation and represents companies in trade secret, copyright infringement and patent infringement litigation. She serves on the Firm’s Pro Bono and Diversity Committees.

Hartzell provides pro bono legal services through the Chicago Volunteer Legal Services as a guardian ad litem, representing minor children in the Probate Court. She also served as lead trial counsel in copyright litigation involving military-themed motivational posters through the Lawyers for Creative Arts.

Active in the legal community, Hartzell is a member of the American Bar Association, Illinois State Bar Association, Chicago Bar Association and Intellectual Property Lawyers Association of Chicago. She received her J.D. from the University of Michigan (2001) and her B.S. in mechanical and biomedical engineering from Duke University (1998). Hartzell is registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
