Marshall, Gerstein & Borun Elects Two New Partners
Marshall, Gerstein & Borun LLP is pleased to announce the election to partnership of Jennifer Burnette and Shelley C. Danek, Ph.D., effective January 1, 2015, bringing the Firm's partner count to 42.

Jennifer Burnette's legal practice focuses on U.S. and foreign patent prosecution in the areas of chemistry and materials science. She assists clients in developing comprehensive patent portfolios, provides freedom to practice assessments and foreign and domestic prosecution strategies. Ms. Burnette also participates in the Firm's Recruiting Committee and is a member of the Adler Planetarium's Women’s Board. She earned her J.D., magna cum laude, from the University of Minnesota Law School where she was Editor in Chief of The Minnesota Journal of Law, Science and Technology. She earned her Bachelor of Science degrees in material science & engineering and in engineering science & applied mathematics from Northwestern University.
Shelley C. Danek, Ph.D. focuses her practice on patent prosecution and counseling in the areas of biotechnology, pharmaceuticals and nanotech products. Her experience provides clients with a comprehensive understanding of regulatory and legal frameworks for pharmaceutical products. Dr. Danek received her J.D. from Chicago-Kent College of Law, was a postdoctoral scholar at Stanford University, and earned her Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry and Bachelor of Arts in international relations from American University in Washington, D.C. Dr. Danek participated on the Firm’s Associate’s Committee and remains involved with the Committee’s progress.
