Marshall Gerstein Gives: Medical Organization for Latino Advancement (MOLA)

July 26, 2024

This month, Marshall Gerstein Gives (MG2) has partnered with the Medical Organization for Latino Advancement (MOLA). MOLA is a collection of Chicagoland Hispanic/Latino physicians working for career advancement, linguistic and cultural competency, personal wellness, and health equity for the good of the entire Hispanic/Latinx community.

MOLA was founded in 2017 to address a decline in Hispanic/Latino representation in the medical community. The organization serves as a resource for Latinos in healthcare to come together and increase their impact, and offers programs focused on education and research, mentorship, advocacy, and public health, among other things. Dr. Joaquin Estrada, one of the group’s co-founders and colorectal surgeon at Advocate Illinois Medical Center, says that MOLA “represents us, unites us, and helps us advance in our careers, support our students, and improve our local Hispanic community.”
