June 1, 2021

Pamela Cox, partner and chair of Marshall Gerstein’s IP Transactions practice, was elected to serve as Corporate Secretary of Licensing Executives Society International by the LESI Delegates at the LES International Management & Delegates' Meeting on May 19, 2021.

As one of the United States’ leading authorities on licensing, Cox has been a preeminent voice in the global advancement of the business of intellectual property for decades. Her election to Corporate Secretary is the latest in a series of leadership roles in LESI for Cox, who previously served as vice president and board member of LESI, is co-founder and chair of the Women in Licensing Alliance (WILA), founder of LESI Life Science Advisory Board, and former Vice-Chair of External Relations Committee, Chair of LESI Life Science Committee, International Delegate for LES USA-Canada and Chair of the LES USA/Canada Chicago Chapter.

“Pam sets the standard for licensing professional leadership at the international level,” said Jeff Sharp, managing partner at Marshall Gerstein. “We commend her for her continued service to LESI as she assumes her role on the 2021-22 Board of Directors. Her brilliant legal mind and dedication to excellence will undoubtedly serve the organization well as it continues to drive innovation and the economic significance of licensing as part of the global business community.”

“I’m honored to be selected and welcome the opportunity to contribute to the executive leadership of LESI advancing the business of intellectual property globally.” said Pam. “Given the international nature of intellectual property deals, supporting LESI’s goals is a natural extension of my practice. The organization is a recognized thought leader and accomplishes great things, including advancing the growth of women in leadership through our new initiative with the WILA. This next year will bring us back together in person, which will be especially rewarding.”

Cox concentrates on counseling related to intellectual property transactions, protection and transfer for clients ranging from multinational corporations to nonprofit institutions. Under her leadership, Marshall Gerstein’s IP transactions practice consistently ranks among the world’s best and was recently selected as one of only three firms in Illinois ranked “highly recommended” in Intellectual Asset Management Patent 1000: The World's Leading Patent Professionals.

She enjoys contributing to advancing the profession and, in addition to serving as LESI’s Corporate Secretary, she has also served in executive leadership roles as Chairperson of the Board for Certified Licensing Professionals, Inc. founding Board member of the Global Healthcare Innovation Alliance Accelerator and the co-founder of the Licensing Committee of the Intellectual Property Owners Association. Additionally, Cox is a Member of the Board of the University Club of Chicago and an Adjunct Professor teaching IP Licensing at Northwestern University’s Pritzker School of Law.
