Partners Robert Gerstein and Cameron Pick will join Capgemini Deputy General Counsel André Frieden at the World Intellectual Property (IP) Forum for a panel discussion on IP considerations for information technology (IT) licenses and services contracts. Their discussion will include an overview of the emerging technologies that present challenges to contracting and IP protection, with a particular focus on artificial intelligence (AI) and protecting AI IP and data rights. Participants will learn the dual interests of clients and service providers in negotiating IT services agreements in addition to critical insights for conducting due diligence on both sides of the deal.

Robert focuses on the preparation and negotiation of patent, trademark, copyright, and trade secret agreements, including licenses, development agreements, joint development agreements, sale agreements and IT services agreements. He has helped resolve disputes on those agreements and their underlying IP, through negotiation, mediation, arbitration, and litigation. He also provides legal opinions, and counsels on all aspects of IP, for all technologies and industries. He has been with Marshall Gerstein for 33 years.
Cameron prosecutes domestic and foreign patent applications for emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, blockchain, autonomous vehicles, and lidar sensors. He develops sophisticated, forward-thinking patent strategies for diverse clientele ranging from start-ups to Fortune 100 companies in the industries of electrical and software engineering. Cameron provides day-to-day IP counseling and regularly prepares patentability, infringement, and freedom-to-operate opinions. He has been with Marshall Gerstein for eight years.
André manages the Large Deals legal team at Capgemini, a global IT services company. He has extensive in-house and law firm experience negotiating regional and global technology transactions, managing IP portfolios, handling technology-related regulatory compliance, and securing commercial alliances for Fortune 100 companies, governmental organizations, and U.S., European, and APAC tech companies. André has negotiated a wide range of complex IP-related transactions, including agreements involving emerging technologies, such AI, IoT and robotics. He has authored legal, business, and technology content published in the National Law Journal, BNA International journals, and various CLE books. André speaks English, French, Portuguese, and Spanish.
