Special Counsel Theresa Stadheim will be a featured speaker at the American Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPLA) Annual Meeting in Washington, DC. Details on Theresa’s session are below:
“Interplay Between 101, 112, and 6th Paragraph: When is Enough Enough?” – 10:15 AM EST – 12:00 PM EST
The panel will review the recently decided Fintiv v. Paypal holding, which applies means-plus-function to claim limitations reciting non-nonce words with purely functional language, with other 101 cases (e.g., Longitude v. Google) to discuss what is needed in a patent to support functional claims. The panel will also discuss the implications for machine learning inventions in light of the decision in Recentive Analytics, Inc. v. Fox Corp.
Theresa will be joined on the panel by Michael Kiklis (Kiklis Law Firm) and Sarah Mirza (Squire Patton Boggs). The conversation will be moderated by Robert Bahr (Maier & Maier).
