Chicago Innovators Turn to Partner Cameron Pick and Associate Shannon Hughes Mastick for Guidance at Chicago Inventors Organization Legal Day

April 20, 2021

On March 25, 2021, Partner Cameron Pick and Associate Shannon Hughes Mastick volunteered alongside other Intellectual Property Law Association of Chicago (IPLAC) members at the Chicago Inventors Organization’s first Legal Zoom Day to provide information on intellectual property (IP) to inventors.

The seminar began with a panel discussion about the basics of IP law, and the importance of having an attorney involved at all stages of the creative and inventive process.

After the panel, IPLAC volunteers led various discussions in Zoom breakout rooms and answered attendees’ questions about patents, trademarks, copyrights, licensing, contracts and agreements, and other IP strategies. Cameron led the “IP Strategies” breakout room to discuss strategies for inventors’ patent portfolios and, for those just getting started, he also answered general questions about the patenting process. Shannon led the “Patent Basics” breakout room where she answered questions from inventors who were at many different stages of development.
