Partner Ryan Phelan will participate as a panelist at The AI Strategy Summit: IP, Data and Compliance in Palo Alto, CA on May 22, 2024, speaking on topics of artificial intelligence (AI) innovations. The Summit brings together legal professionals, intellectual property specialists, data privacy experts, compliance officers, and business leaders, to discuss practical solutions on how to leverage AI to drive innovation and productivity while ensuring compliance with regulations.

Ryan will be joined by Chen Gu of Innovusion, Inc., Milan Kapadia of Palo Alto Networks, Siddhi Shah of Micron Technology, and Ahsan Shaikh of McDermott Will & Emery. Ryan and his panelists will explore the evolution of AI technologies and how patent professionals can adapt and leverage these advancements.

Ryan is a registered U.S. patent attorney who counsels and works with clients in all areas of intellectual property with a focus on patents. He represents numerous startup and Fortune 500 clients with patent matters in technical areas and industries including artificial intelligence and machine learning, medical devices, biometrics data and services, virtual reality, imaging, internet and e-commerce, computer networking, data storage and management, encryption and security, mobile telecommunications, consumer electronics, insurance and finance applications, mechanical devices, among others.

Ryan is an adjunct professor at the Northwestern Pritzker School of Law teaching course work on patenting software inventions. He is a frequent author and contributor to AIPLA and IPO white papers and articles, and writes on the subject of AI at his blog PatentNext at patentnext.com. Ryan currently serves as the Software Medical Device subcommittee chair for IPO and the Secretary of the Emerging Technologies Committee of AIPLA.
