Pam is President Elect of LESI and serves as Chair of IP Transactions at Marshall Gerstein. She will speak in the Emerging Leaders Session, "Gazing into the Crystal Ball: Insights into the Future of the Profession." Bringing together leaders from across the licensing community, the panel will explore how evolving business models, technological innovation, and shifting professional standards may shape the licensing profession over the next five to ten years. Pam will be joined by Nicole van de Leuv (Two River), Ha Nguyen (Salk Institute for Biological Studies), Gayatri Varma (AstraZeneca), and Todd Langford (Illumina).
"From Models to Medicines" - Monday, October 19, 11:15 AM - 12:15 PM
Chair of Electrical & Computer Technologies Matt Carey will participate in the workshop, "From Models to Medicines: Exploring AI-Driven BioPharma-Academia Partnerships Across Drug Discovery." The session will examine how artificial intelligence is transforming collaborations between pharmaceutical companies and academic institutions, with a focus on partnership structures, diligence considerations, and deal terms unique to AI-driven research and development. Matt will be joined by Jonathan Jensen (Novartis), Alessandro Monge (Blue Dolphin), and Devin Swanson (Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine).
Pam Cox’s practice focuses on unraveling complex deal structures and devising creative agreement solutions as well as IP protection strategies and alternative dispute resolution for clients ranging from multinational corporations to non-profit institutions. Pam is also focused on advancing the licensing profession. She is active in AUTM and LES USA/Canada, former Chair of the Certified Licensing Professionals (CLP), co-founded the Women in Licensing Alliance of LESI, is an invited international speaker on licensing, dispute resolution and technology transfer, and teaches IP Licensing at the Pritzker School of Law at Northwestern.
Matt Carey is a registered patent attorney whose practice focuses on patent protection for complex software, computer, and data-driven systems, with particular depth in AI and machine learning, cloud and distributed architectures, fintech and quantitative platforms, robotics and intelligent control systems, and integrated hardware-software products. He is frequently engaged where inventions sit at the intersection of software, analytics, and real-world operational constraints. Matt is also an active writer and speaker on IP issues affecting software and AI innovations.
The LES Annual Meeting brings together licensing, intellectual property, and business professionals from across industry, academia, government, and private practice to explore emerging issues, share insights, and build connections across the licensing community.
