Partner Julianne Hartzell is the recipient of this year’s Inspiration Award from the Coalition of Women's Initiatives in Law, a nonprofit membership association bringing together women in law firms and companies across the Chicago area. The award was presented at the Eighth Annual Leadership Forum at Kirkland & Ellis LLP on Wednesday, October 11.

The Inspiration Award is given annually to a female attorney that serves as an inspiration to other female attorneys, and also demonstrates excellence in lawyering and achievement in her legal practice.

An invaluable and accomplished member of Marshall Gerstein’s litigation practice and chair of its medical device practice, she drew praise from nominators for her “exceptional advocacy skills, energy, and ability to get things done.”

Julianne also is an active pro bono advocate, serving on the firm’s Pro Bono Committee and volunteering time with Lawyers for the Creative Arts, Cabrini Green Legal Aid, and Chicago Volunteer Legal Services. Additionally, she was a founding member of Marshall Gerstein’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee and has served as the firm’s recruiting partner since 2011.

Outside the firm, she has devoted significant time to serving the greater legal community as a board member, past president, and committee chair of the Coalition of Women’s Initiatives in Law; a past board member of the Richard Linn American Inn of Court; a committee member of the Intellectual Property Owner’s Association; and a committee member of the International Trademark Association.
