“Where is My Crystal Ball When I Need It? Good Deals Gone Bad: A Case Study in Structuring License Agreements to Survive the Convulsions of Commerce”
October 2015 – PresentationOn October 15, 2015, Pamela Cox (Marshall, Gerstein & Borun LLP), Matthew McNeill (Rite-Hite Holding Corporation), Joseph Miotke (DeWitt Ross & Stevens SC), and Ada Nielsen (PeregrineMavine Group) presented “Where Is My Crystal Ball When I Need It? Good Deals Gone Bad: A Case Study in Structuring License Agreements to Survive the Convulsions of Commerce” during the Midwest Research University Network (MRUN) CATTEC VIII "Midwest Startups – Evolution of Innovation" program. The presenters reenacted the tale of a Midwestern university research scientist who believed he had found a new, significant cure for cancer. Loosely modeled on a real tale (different science, however), the story followed the expectations, ups and downs, and unexpected outcomes of what tends to happen on the road to commercialization.
