Biography

A research chemist who understands how important intellectual property rights are to inventors, entrepreneurs, and investors, Jacqueline J. Felda, Ph.D. assists in prosecuting patents for clients within the chemical sciences industry. Her meticulous understanding of the data behind a new product, ability to draw conclusions, define implications and significance, and present this information to others, affords Jacque a marked capacity for work on complex intellectual property matters. Since 2021 Jacque has been selected for inclusion on the Illinois Rising Stars® lists.

Background and Credentials

At the Department of Chemistry at The University of Chicago, Jacque researched polymerization catalysis, specifically, the development of new catalysts for making new types of functionalized polyolefins. By introducing changes to the molecular structure of the catalyst and analyzing the resulting polymers, she and her team were able to investigate how the catalyst structure influenced the function. The catalyst she developed was unique because it exhibited greater activity and stability to vinyl polar monomers than previously seen.

Jacque earned her J.D., cum laude, from Northwestern University School of Law and both a Ph.D. and an M.S. in chemistry from The University of Chicago. She received B.S. in chemistry from Marquette University, where she graduated magna cum laude.
