Biography
Matthew is an Associate within Marshall Gerstein’s Electrical & Computer Technologies Group. He focuses on drafting and prosecuting patent applications for a wide range of clients, from startups and universities to Fortune 500 companies. His practice involves all stages of the patent process, including portfolio planning and strategy, drafting patent applications, responding to office actions, conducting examiner interviews, performing landscape searches and analysis, and managing foreign filing and prosecution. Matthew's research experience focused on electrical, magnetic, and quantum systems provides him with a deep understanding of complex innovations.

Matthew has representative experience in sectors such as technology, healthcare, industrials, defense, and agriculture. He has prepared and prosecuted patent applications for inventions related to:

Background and Credentials
Matthew earned his J.D. from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law, with a concentration in Intellectual Property and Innovation Law. While there, he served as the President of the Student Intellectual Property Law Association and as Managing Editor for the University of Pittsburgh Law Review. He received his B.S. in Physics and Political Science from North Central College, where he was a NCAA All-American volleyball player.
Matthew previously served as a Summer Associate at Marshall Gerstein. Prior to that, he was a Policy and Advocacy Intern at Grounded Strategies, a vacant land focused not-for-profit organization aiming to improve the environmental and economic health of communities.
