February 20, 2023 | Special Counsel Julie Watson to Speak on Confidentiality Agreements in Academia at AUTM Annual Meeting

February 20, 2023
Austin, TX

Marshall, Gerstein & Borun LLP Special Counsel Julie Watson will join a panel of intellectual property (IP) professionals at AUTM’s annual meeting on Monday, February 20 to discuss the nuances of open, academic discourse versus the need to protect IP via confidentiality agreements. This in-depth discussion will ask tough questions about the free exchange of ideas in academic settings as well as whether that exchange of ideas constitutes public disclosure of protected information. The panel will examine established best practices and highlight instances where a confidentiality agreement may indeed be necessary.

Julie will be joined by:

  • Alexandra Pechhold, Patent Prosecution Manager, Rutgers University
  • Prabhpreet Gill, Licensing Associate, Princeton University
  • Anne Juggernauth, Assistant Director, Business Development and Licensing, University of Chicago
  • Domingos Silva, Patent Attorney, Saul Ewing Arnstein & Lehr LLP

A licensing professional with over 25 years of experience structuring complex IP matters in-house, Julie Watson focuses her practice on IP transactions with a particular emphasis on technology startups and university technology transfer. She has been recognized as one of the “World’s Leading Patent Practitioners” by Intellectual Asset Management (IAM) magazine.
