September 2, 2013

Pamela L. Cox, chair of IP Transactions, co-authored with Hayley French, Ph.D., commercial director and general counsel of Apitope Technology, an article entitled “Laws and Policies Affecting Global Collaboration and License Agreements.” The article, published in the September 2013 issue of The Licensing Journal, explores some of the fundamental differences between the U.S. and European legal systems that affect collaboration and license agreements, including intellectual property ownership, compensation, bankruptcy and competition/anti-trust.

Ms. Cox concentrates on counseling related to intellectual property transactions, protection and transfer for clients ranging from multinational corporations to non-profit institutions. According to the IAM Patent 1000, “Ms. Cox is one of the foremost licensing experts both in the Midwest and nationally. She is a pre-eminent authority on university technology transfer and licensing acting for commercial and non-profit clients.”

Dr. French has nearly two decades of experience negotiating licenses and collaborations and managing alliances in the life sciences sector. Prior to joining Apitope as commercial director, Dr. French spent three years at Novartis working closely on deals and collaborations in the company’s respiratory division. Before that, she worked in Bird & Bird’s Life Sciences group in London. She holds a Ph.D. in microbiology and an MSc in intellectual property from the University of London.
