Marshall Gerstein partners Thomas Duston and Ryan Schermerhorn will represent the firm at the 2023 AIPPI International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (AIPPI) World Congress, scheduled to take place from October 22-25 in the historic city of Istanbul, Turkey. The Annual AIPPI World Congress is a global gathering that brings together IP experts, practitioners, and professionals from across the world. With typically over 2,000 attendees from various corners of the globe, the AIPPI World Congress serves as a critical forum for intellectual property experts to exchange knowledge and explore emerging issues within the field.

Tom Duston is a hands-on trial lawyer who focuses on patent litigation for some of the world's most sophisticated companies. With thirty years' experience, Tom has been lead counsel in more than 60 patent infringement matters in U.S. Federal courts. Tom is praised by clients and adversaries alike for both his creativity and tenacity as a trial attorney. Tom has represented Amazon.com, Groupon, Abbott Laboratories, CDW, Newegg, T-Mobile, Charter Communications, Express LLC, GE Aviation, TRINOVA (now part of Eaton), Russell Athletic, Raytheon, Home Depot, Classified Ventures, as well as Zappos.com, to name but a few.

Partner Ryan Schermerhorn is a registered patent attorney in the firm's Industrial & Mechanical Technologies Practice Group. His engineering background provides him with an understanding of clients’ technologies and enables him to effectively and efficiently provide a range of patent procurement services. He also leverages his experience to assist on intellectual property litigation as well as develop strategies for acquiring and protecting intellectual property.
