Biography
Robert T. Faedtke brings more than 20 years of intellectual property experience to Marshall Gerstein’s Trademark Practice, where he focuses exclusively on trademark matters. As a Trademark Paralegal, Rob supports attorneys throughout the trademark lifecycle, with particular emphasis on trademark searching, U.S. and foreign prosecution, and client portfolio support.
Rob serves as our resident “search specialist”, conducting and analyzing preliminary and knockout trademark searches using local trademark office databases and leading commercial search platforms. He prepares attorneys with detailed search reports and risk assessments and assists with full clearance searches, including coordination with third‑party search vendors. His strong analytical skills and deep familiarity with search tools make him a trusted resource for early‑stage brand evaluation.
Representative Experience
In addition to his search work, Rob manages a broad range of U.S. and foreign trademark prosecution tasks. His experience includes:
- Preparing and filing new U.S. applications
- Drafting goods and services identifications
- Reviewing specimens of use
- Preparing prosecution submissions
- Coordinating with foreign counsel on international filings and formalities
- Assisting with package reviews for clients, ensuring that branding elements are properly vetted and aligned with trademark strategy
- Maintaining docketing records and deadlines
Background and Credentials
Rob obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Management from the University of Phoenix. While in school, Rob was a member of the Delta Mu Delta Business Honor Society. He is also registered as an Illinois Accredited Paralegal and a Notary Public.
Before joining Marshall Gerstein, Rob served as a senior paralegal for companies in the semiconductor, electronics, and chemical manufacturing industries, gaining broad exposure to complex IP operations. He also has several years of experience in patents, copyrights, and various types of agreements.
