Biography

Sammy brings more than two decades of experience as a patent prosecutor to Marshall Gerstein's Chemical Sciences practice. Throughout his legal career, Sammy has prepared and prosecuted U.S. and foreign patent applications across the full spectrum of the chemical arts such as R&D based small molecule applications through consumer products to chemical processes and formulations. He is also experienced in freedom-to-operate, non-infringement, patentability, and validity/invalidity opinions.

Background and Credentials

Sammy received his J.D. from Seton Hall University School of Law and following law school was an attorney at boutique intellectual property law firms where he prepared and prosecuted numerous patent applications across the field of chemistry. As an in-house patent attorney, Sammy has served as Assistant IP Counsel, Assistant General Counsel – IP, Director IP, Patent Counsel, and Associate Counsel – Patents for biopharmaceutical companies.

Sammy also holds a Ph.D. in organic chemistry from Clemson University, a M.S. in organic chemistry from The University of Georgia, and a B.A. in Chemistry from Vanderbilt University.
