September 23, 2023 | Technical Specialist Spencer Stong to Speak during Midwest Association of Pre-Law Advisors (MAPLA) Conference
On Saturday, September 23, 2023, at 9am Technical Specialist Spencer Stong will be speaking about his experience as a graduate student within Northwestern University Pritzker School of Law’s M.S. in Law program. Spencer is a 2022 graduate of the program where he focused his studies on intellectual property management, and patent prosecution. One of his courses “Patenting Software Inventions” was co-taught by Marshall Gerstein attorneys Ryan Phelan and Nicholas Terrell that emphasized how to identify and evaluate software-specific issues relating to subject matter eligibility, prior art, and enforceability.
Spencer will be joined by Leslie Oster, Director, Master of Science in Law Program, Northwestern University Pritzker School of Law.

At Marshall Gerstein, Spencer assists in drafting and prosecuting patent applications within the firm’s Electrical & Computer Technologies Group. In addition to his M.S. in Law, Spencer holds a B.A. in molecular biology – genetics from the University of California, Berkeley. Within the legal community, Spencer is an active member of the Intellectual Property Law Association of Chicago.
