Biography
Stefan is a Patent Agent within Marshall Gerstein’s Biotechnology & Life Sciences Practice Group. Stefan brings several years of valuable experience as a patent agent in the biotechnology, medical device, and small molecule therapeutics spaces.
Representative Experience
- Drafting patent applications to inventions in the biotechnology, medical device, and small molecule therapeutics space.
- Preparing responses to office actions.
- Performing patent landscape searches and freedom to operate analysis to provide client counseling on patentability issues.
- Advising clients on patent prosecution strategies to manage and prosecute patent portfolios in the United States and foreign jurisdictions.
- Analyzing granted patents and patent publications in connection with due diligence.
- Monitoring competitors’ patent application file histories to advise strategies for clients on current patent prosecution and patent portfolios.
Background and Credentials
Stefan achieved his Ph.D. in Biological Chemistry from the University of California, Irvine (UCI) in 2020. He developed animal models for myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPN) to study how mutations in hematopoietic stem cells cause a MPN phenotype in vivo and better understand calreticulin’s role in MPNs and blood cells development.
Prior to joining Marshall Gerstein, Stefan worked as a patent agent in California and served as a Fellow for the Research Translation Group at UCI.
