Partner and Chair of Marshall Gerstein’s IP Transactions Practice Pam Cox and Trademark Partner Michelle Bolos will be speaking at the Licensing Executive Society (LES) USA-Canada Annual Meeting in Boston regarding “The Inspiring Journey and the Impact of the NYT best-seller, The Exceptions: Nancy Hopkins, MIT, and the Fight for Women in Science.” Pam and Michelle will sit down with journalist Kate Zernike to discuss her NYT Best-selling book, “The Exceptions: Nancy Hopkins, MIT, and the Fight for Women in Science.” The book details the experience of Hopkins, a molecular geneticist at MIT, and a group of women faculty members who confronted systemic discrimination within the institution. This session is the second in the year-long Women In Licensing Alliance (WILA) speaker series. As co-founder and chair of WILA, Pam is excited to bring this caliber of speaker into the discussion of how to advance women in leadership.
Pam Cox’s practice focuses on unraveling complex deal structures and devising creative agreement solutions as well as IP protection strategies and alternative dispute resolution for clients ranging from multinational corporations to non-profit institutions. As a patent attorney who started in-house doing technology transfer 30 years ago, Pam is an active supporter of advancing the licensing profession and governance, Pam is President elect, elect of the Licensing Executive Society International (LESI), the former President of the Certified Licensing Professionals, Inc., and multi-term former Member of the Boards of each organization, frequent invited international presenter and instructor including for AUTM, and an adjunct professor at Northwestern School of Law.
Michelle Bolos focuses her practice on developing and executing global brand enforcement strategies to facilitate brand protection and expansion for a broad range of clients. She advises clients on all key aspects of protecting and maximizing the value of their IP through clearance, registration, licensing, and enforcement. Michelle’s secondment with a Fortune 500 company provided her with firsthand experience working alongside in-house legal and brand teams, giving her a unique understanding of the pressures that in-house legal teams face, and an appreciation of the importance of understanding a client’s goals so that she can provide advice and strategies that are tailored to the business’ needs and objectives. Michelle also has extensive experience negotiating brand placement licensing agreements and talent agreements, enabling clients to expand their brand presence through innovative and commercially aligned partnerships. Michelle is an LES member and participant in WILA’s mentorship program.
